Cycling Science & the Himalayas Cycling Science and the Himalayas in Chester. There was a fair bit of setting up to do before the start, so my tea came on a tour of the campus with me. This handsome old Raleigh Silhouette had a starring role in one of the first demonstrations. Sheltering from the rain while learning about the mysteries of bicycle stability. Chester’s Roman walls (and tourists) look on as we learn more about why bikes stay upright. It was a bit of a chilly day for standing around in shorts, but the science was compelling… The day concluded with Max’s tales of taking mountain bikes across the Himalayas in the 1980s. Thanks to one and all who came along for the ride (and the talk).
